Cochrane Information Retrieval Methods Group
The Cochrane Information Retrieval Methods Group (Cochrane IRMG) achieved official registration with The Cochrane Collaboration on 16 November 2004. The Group aims to provide advice and support, to conduct research and to facilitate information exchange regarding the information retrieval activities of The Cochrane Collaboration. The emphasis will be on providing practical support for the development of information retrieval techniques and facilities for information searchers.

The Annual meeting of the Information Retrieval Methods Group was held from 0730 to 0930 on October 21st 2011 during the Cochrane Colloquium in Madrid.
General information
Cochrane Methods Groups have been established to develop methodology and advise The Cochrane Collaboration on how the validity and precision of systematic reviews can be improved. Methods Groups base their activities around six core functions; these are discussed in greater detail in the 'Activities' section of the Group's module.
The Group aims to provide advice and support, to conduct research and to facilitate information exchange regarding methods to support the information retrieval activities of The Cochrane Collaboration.
